Flight Review

“A Biennial Flight Review, commonly called a flight review, is a process through which a certified flight instructor evaluates a pilot’s skills and knowledge. (BFR) In the United States, pilots are required to maintain their currency and proficiency. It’s mandated by aviation authorities such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the U.S. and ensures that pilots remain competent and safe in their flying skills and knowledge. Here’s an overview of what typically happens during a flight review:

Flight reviews ensure that pilots maintain their skills, knowledge, and safety standards over time. By participating in regular flight reviews, pilots can identify areas for improvement, stay current with regulatory requirements, and enhance their overall proficiency as aviators.”

Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC)

“An Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) is mandatory for pilots who intend to serve as pilot-in-command (PIC) under instrument flight rules (IFR) in controlled airspace and specific weather conditions. The IPC aims to verify that pilots possess the requisite knowledge and expertise to operate an aircraft safely under instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) and IFR regulations. Here’s an overview of the Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC):

The Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) is an essential requirement for pilots who operate under instrument flight rules (IFR) and is designed to ensure the continued safety and proficiency of instrument-rated pilots in the National Airspace System.”

NVG Proficiency Check (NPC)

“Federal Aviation Regulation (FAR) 61.57 outlines the currency requirements for pilots to act as pilot in command (PIC) of an aircraft under various conditions, including night vision goggle (NVG) operations. Here’s an overview of how FAR 61.57 applies to NVG pilot currency requirements:

Other Regulations Overall, FAR 61.57 establishes the currency requirements for pilots conducting NVG operations and ensures that pilots maintain the necessary skills and proficiency to safely and effectively operate aircraft with NVGs in low-light or nighttime conditions. Pilots are responsible for adhering to these currency requirements and maintaining accurate records of their NVG flight experience and training.”
